Kim Kardashian announced that she had lost an impressive 75 pounds on a Keto Diet Plan in the past few months. Well, the Internet exploded and of course, Ketogenic Diets are now front page news!
However, long before Kim announced it to the world, Keto was alive and well. It first was first used in the 1920’s to treat pediatric epilepsy and quite a bit of research has gone into it since then. It hasn’t hit the mainstream completely as yet because research relies on funding and one of the biggest highlights of a Keto Diet Plan is keeping carbohydrates low. The Ketogenic Diet is defined as a High Fat, Moderate Protein, and Low-Carbohydrate Diet. While similar to the Atkins Diet, they are different. The original intention was to provide enough protein for body growth and repair and sufficient calories to maintain optimal weight for age and height. In later years the diet waned in popularity as drug companies developed better medications.

I prefer to call it a lifestyle rather than a diet and I know that sounds cliched. The changes that you will notice after going Keto will convince you that you do not want to go back to the way things were.

How great is that, reducing inflammation and repairing your body without drugs. Having said that, it is not a silver bullet or magic.
